September 19, 2009

Come check it all out!

Thanks to some collaboration with and help from Nick at LC Elite Consulting, I now have the gorgeous website I always wanted and imagined, but just couldn’t get on my own!  Although I do have solid working knowledge of html, I was unable to make just what I wanted.  This new site, requires no html knowledge and is soooo easy to update and add new items to that I have no more excuses for not getting my new items listed!  This is now super shopper friendly and allows me more options than I even knew I wanted!

So…go check it out and feel free to tell me what you think!    I also have TWO addys pointed to this new site…   Rosesofonegarden.com and loriannbouchard.com

(Oh and if you are looking for a new and fabulous website for your own art …contact Nick over at LC Elite!!)

Site issues….so new stuff is here!

June 16, 2009

Well…apparently my site host had some power issues at their main data storage site which caused my home website to be down for a good part of yesterday. It also means that it will be another day at least until I can edit or add things to it. Because I just cannot wait to show off some of the pretty new things I worked on over the last few days, I am going to take advantage of having this blog and give you all a preview here! I have been working diligently on twisted wire filigree designs and am able to work smaller and smaller every time! These three new pendants will be a part of my Wire Hearts Collection. I will be adding more as these really are fun and satisfying to make!

_____________________________________________________

The larger of the three is a mere 1.5″ (32mm) across…the other two measure 1″ (23mm) across!
The dainty heart on the right is a birthday gift for my daughter. The others will be made available for purchase on my site as soon as I have access to editing features again. (should be Wednesday morning at the latest).

NEW! Filigree 9 pointed star pendants…

June 11, 2009

I have finally been blessed with the time I’ve been yearning for to begin work on my new line of 9 pointed star pendants! Each one features a glass cabochon or bead made in my glass studio.
Thanks to the wonderful and talented tutelage of Jeanne Rhodes-Moen and inspiration by Victoria Lansford, I was able to embark on this amazing journey into silver filigree. I am hoping to expand my designs beyond 9 pointed stars as I gain a stronger foothold on the techniques involved in filigree work, but for now am certainly happy and content to focus on my 9-stars again!

This is my latest and is available for purchase
on my website ( http://rosesofonegarden.com/bahai.html )

Media….does it matter?

November 18, 2007

No, I do not mean media as in television, newspapers, magazines, etc…

Instead I am referring to the raw materials in our art. The media of choice.
How important is our choice of media and our ability or inability to focus on just one?

Some art “experts”, and you know who you are, would tell us that we MUST pick one medium and stick with it. We MUST be steadfast, predictable, and focused in order to produce a body of work that is congruent and meaningful.

Blooey. What a bunch of hogwash eh?
I agree that we must become focused in our work and that we must be able to , at some point, produce a “body of work” that is cohesive and connected. Our expressions must tell a story and must make sense outside of our own minds. How we arrive at that place is where I disagree.

I think that if we limit ourselves to one or even two or three media only, then we are closing our creative selves into a little box where “Impossibilities” (remember those mythical creatures we talked about earlier?) are able to creep into our minds and bind our muses with limits and liabilities.
Rather, we should allow ourselves to create in as many media types as we need or desire. If we can do this, we can allow ourselves to honestly find the one or two where we feel the most comfortable, and can use those as a basis, a foundation, for our art. From that base, we can incorporate infinite forms and ideas to bring about our creative vision. We are limitless in our abilities and infinite in our artistic connections.

I have found that by incorporating many media and many forms into my work, I am able to more honestly express an artistic thought than if I were handicapped by one or two forms. You know how sometimes a word is easier to say in another language? This is the same. Some things are “easier to say”, or “better expressed” in a different language- or medium. By opening ourselves to new methods and materials we are learning a new language that can only allow us to expand our artistic vocabulary.

My foundations are chains and glass. From that I can expand to include sculpture in three different media, wire work, filigree, weaving, and more….. how boring would my work be if I only allowed myself to put a glass bead on a chain? Oh the horrors!

So…by all means, become finessed in one or two media, learn them inside and out, and master their manipulation. Then, free yourself into the endless world of creativity by learning a “word of the day” in a new “language’!

Have a great one….and BE great!

Until next time….

New Booth Setup Photos!!

September 7, 2007

Well…the basics are finished! As usual, the process had brought me a flood of new and even better ideas! I found that I had alot more room than I thought I did! I know from past experience that the amount of jewelry in my inventory right now would be cramped and over crowded looking on tables and am delighted to find that I have even more room than I need with my new “system”!

This means that I can now create some posters and banners and that I WILL indeed have room for my customary dozen red roses!

Now all that is left to do is to finish making the proper Name and Price markers for my work and to decide which pieces get their photos done in posters! Decisions, decisions, decisions…..

So without further ado…..

(Click the pics to see the entire shot in full size….wordpress cuts them off)

Announcement!

August 19, 2007

I am sorry to announce that my shop on Ruby Lane has been closed.  I have decided to focus my energies and time devoted to my own web sites and to doing some in person shows and private events in the local area instead.  I miss the direct contact with my customers that is so vitally important in selling art and look forward to meeting more of you.   This also allows for you, the customer, admirer, the “competition”, etc. the opportunity to examine, touch, try on, and experience my work in a tactile atmosphere and form a connection with the artist – me.

So…. while you can still purchase my work online through my web sites (rosesofonegarden.com and jewelrydestiny.com ) you will now be able to access my work on a more personal level locally as well!

Till next time…
